National Burns Awareness Month 2022 Small Grants Program

To encourage organisations to get involved in NBAM, Kidsafe Australia is offering small grants of up to $1,000 to support organisations to deliver a project to promote burns awareness during June.

Who can apply for funding?

Organisations with DGR status are eligible to apply, including:

  • Not-for-profit organisations/Charities

  • Community Organisations

  • Hospitals

  • Schools

  • Early Childhood Services

Where will projects be funded? 
Grants are open to projects located in Australia only.

What projects will be funded?
Please note that due to current circumstances, preference will be given to projects that consider alternative delivery modes where possible (e.g. digital campaign, online resource).

Funding will support the following categories of expenditure:
 

  • Promotion and marketing (e.g. billboards, local newspapers, social media, centre displays)

  • Media activites

  • Awareness activities in the workplace or community (e.g. a morning tea with a guest speaker who will talk about the impact of living with or treating a serious burn)

  • Development and printing of educational materials (e.g. printing of learning material, materials development, brochures, flyers, posters etc.)


Other types of expenditure may be considered during assessment of your project if they are justified and deemed suitable by the assessment panel. You will be required to demonstrate that all activities are essential to the success of the project, activity or event, and that the funding requested is reasonable . 

Please ensure that physical events or activities follow current COVID-19 restrictions relevant to your state or territory.

Projects, activities or events that fall into any of the following categories will not be considered for funding.

  • Retrospective funding – projects which are already underway or will commence prior to 1st June 2022 are not eligible for consideration.

  • Sponsorship or funding towards a marketing appeal/event or fundraising activities.

  • Applications outside of Australia.

  • Applications for religious, spiritual or political purposes.

  • Applications that do not support the available evidence on the prevention or treatment of burns.

  • Applications for projects that do not address the criteria.

How much funding is available?
A pool of $10,000 is available - a maximum of $1,000 is available per successful organisation

  • The organisation will be required to deliver the project as detailed in the description and demonstrate they are able to implement the project and manage the risks and finances associated with the project.

  • All materials developed as part of the project will be required to display the NBAM logo.

  • The organisation will be required to provide a report as per the provided template by the 30th July 2022 which demonstrates the outcomes and expenditure of the project and includes photos, videos or links to your project.

  • Tag Kidsafe Australia on at least one social media post (Twitter, Facebook or Instagram) promoting the project and/or relevant burns awareness messages throughout the month of June.

When will we find out if we are successful?
The nominated contact person will be notified of their application outcome by email in mid-May 2022.

When will we receive the funds?
50 percent of grant funds will be transferred by EFT to the organisation's nominated bank account (not a personal bank account) 1 week after the nominated contact person has been notified that their application is successful. The remainder of funds will be transferred by EFT upon delivery of the project report or earlier as agreed with Kidsafe Australia.
